It has the features of five fundamental tastes of combinations for overall meal of the cuisine and beverages of Vietnam. One or more of elements can be easily reflected with it’s their distinctive flavours. Fruit and vegetables, fresh herbs, fish sauces or soy sauce along with shrimp paste and also rice are used as common ingredients. This kind of cooking is called traditional cooking which is greatly admired because of minimum use of oil and dairy products and also for fresh ingredients with complementary textures, and herbs and vegetables.

Balance is maintained between the fresh herbs and meats if needed with selective use of spices for its best taste. People also love noodles. They eat it every day sometimes for every meal which is discovered as one of the surprising fact. Rice, mung beans and wheat are used as basic ingredients to make noodles. It is the most common thing; whole sub-cuisine is built on these basics.People use to make more use of soy sauce rather than fish sauce because of the influence of China which was neighbouring country in the northern part. Mostly in Northern areas the other most common ingredients used in cooking was black pepper, cane sugar or limes, hot chilli’s or tamarinds, lemon grass and coconut milk, and others supplemented by potatoes or asparagus. This is due to French influence. Cooking varies from methods from each other from simmering ways or boiling types to frying or by grilling it.

Using a wok and chopsticks for frying activity or Stir-frying is very common. It is also found that variety of dishes is influenced by European ways which includes cold roast pork and sauces, along with meats and French rolls. There is a huge demand in other parts of the country for all exotic type of meats such as snakes, or turtles or dogs on the other side.One of eating styles which is very popular in many countries among the Asians and its neighbourhood. There are people who have different styles like to eat as “family style”, sharing all types of dishes.Each person in the family gets a plate or bowl filled with rice, next then they share with remaining people or with everyone else the bowls of eatables which are set innovatively in the middle or centre of the table. If the family is quite wealthy then it is expected to see meat among those who are eating with a family. The standard diet in most of the houses is noodles or vegetables.
