Spring Events

To all SNIS parents- thank you for supporting our spring SNIS-PTO Book fair! With your help, we have contributed to the SNIS library, and because of the generous donation to One for Books by our SNIS students we were able to give to the New Milford public library youth department as well!  I would like to thank all of our 51 parent and staff volunteers, and the SNIS PTO for our wonderful "Books and Bingo" family night. A very special thank you to my spring book fair committee: Wendy O'Brien and Kathleen Lewis for coordinating school staff appreciation, teacher wish list and all school staff vouchers; Jackie Bode, Nicole DuVerger, Jennifer Gabrielson, Sue Sullivan and every SNIS student for all of their awesome help with our decorations; Pat Galletta for coordination of our book fair volunteers; Lynn Mazik for making all of our book fair flyers, and Terri Tuz, who helped whenever she could. I really appreciate all of their time, help and support! Thank you, Denise Smith, Book Fair Chair

SNIS Yearbooks are still on sale for $22.00. Don’t miss out! Reserve your color yearbook now!  Panoramic pictures of each grade are still available for order at $18.00 for the picture, or $28.00 for the picture in a mount suitable for hanging. Please return payment in an envelope to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. Call Melissa Gesualdi at 354-9083 for information.

Literature week was a huge success! Many thanks go to Mrs. Baerny and Ms. Hackel for organizing the authors and illustrators that provided enrichment for the students at SNIS. The PTO funded the entire cost of $3,700 for the week long activities.

Can I REALLY make a difference?

Yes! Decades of research show that when parents are involved, students have:

  • Higher grades, test scores and graduation rates
  • Better school attendance
  • Increased motivation and better self-esteem
