Northville Elementary School
Ahhhhhh….summer vacation….the countdown is over.
And only 104 more days until they start again, the new countdown begins!
What will you do with the kids for summer break? Here are the PTO’s top 3 picks:
1. Northville Garden: Our garden needs tending and we are looking for families to adopt the garden for a week during the summer. It will just be garden maintenance: weeding, checking the fence, and maybe some watering depending on the weather. If you are interested in helping in any way, you can contact one of our garden volunteers:
Christine Zona
210-7892
Julie Learson
210-0341
Heidi Edel
355-3582
2. Read, read, read! Have your children lose themselves in books this summer. Set aside time each day to read for pleasure. Maybe start or join a book club with your child’s peers. Definitely join the New Milford Library’s summer reading program, starting on July 6th.
3. Summer Journaling Have your child pick a notebook at the store and set a goal, either once a day or once a week for your child to write about the day’s activities. Pick a special family time each week when everyone shares their adventures. Don’t worry about spelling or punctuation!
Whatever you do this summer, the NES PTO wishes you a happy and healthy one! We look forward to having you join us for 2010-2011. We have many exciting things planned for the new school year, including a Science Cart which will be available to all students at all grade levels. Some areas the cart will cover are forces and motion, liquids and solids, matter, rocks…all activities will be hands on! If you are interested in being a grade level coordinator, please contact Heidi Edel at heidiedel@rocketmail.com.
We’ll see you on August 31st!
