GENERAL INFORMATION
If you would like to volunteer for the NES –PTO please contact Angie Chastain or Anne Diamond through the school office or at our website northvillepto@charter.net . All volunteers are welcome, even if you can only contribute an hour of time! Please join our meetings the first Thursday of every month in the PTO room.
Our next meeting is on Thursday, May 1st at 7 p.m.
Would you like to become a member of the New Milford PTO? All you have to do is print out our membership form, fill it out, and send it and your $10.00 membership fee to our Post Office Box. Go to the town wide general information page for the printable membership form.
Following are the minutes from the April 3, 2008 PTO Meeting:
Attendance: Christine Zona, JenTesoriero, Maria Gevinski, Jen Luis, Deanna Sumara, Leslie Peery, Anne Diamond, Sharon Michalek, Angie Chastain, Daniela Esposito, Mandi MacDonald and Amy Moore
Secretary's Report:
Treasurer's Report: Beginning Balance $13,014.49 ~ Current Balance (with most monies collected from March Madness) is $22,843.10
Total amount to date brought in by March Madness is $11,944.00
Grants: The first grant presented was for all students at Northville for the end of year "Bubble Guy" presentation. It was mentioned that it would a bit different than last years performance. Deanna made a motion to accept, Jen Luis seconded all in favor motion passed.
The second grant was from the First grade teachers for all first graders to see a play "Once Upon a Time" at Westconn. This was split into two grants the first in the amount of $793.00 which would cover the cost of tickets for 113 first grade students and 9 teachers. Sharon made a motion to approve, Christine seconded. Motion carried. The second was for the amount of $260 for bus transportation. Daniela made a motion, Leslie seconded all in favor motion passed.
The last grant came from Mr. Dragone in the amount of $127.80 to purchase three 25" tall puppets to be used for guidance lessons for all students. Amy made a motion to approve, Sharon seconded all in favor motion passed.
Literature Week: Christine will get food from The Northville Market for the authors lunches. We have water bottles and Chex mix as well as bakers lined up for snacks.
Fundraisers: Jen Tesoriero mentioned starting a fundraiser committee to organize events for next year. This will be discussed more in the near future. Deanna suggested perhaps switching from Sally Foster to Meadow Farms fundraising next year. The representative that she spoke with said that he could delete any products that we wish (i.e.: food) from the catalog. We would receive 50% profit from sales. All agreed. This will be scheduled for the first week of September.
Field Day: Water bottles were purchased with Bessie the cow in shorts & headband that say "If you had fun you won!" to be given to the teachers to pass out to students.
Third Grade Celebration: Amy & Jen Luis to chair this event. Angie to email details from previous years to Amy. (thanks!)
Open Forum: Sharon made a suggestion box and put it in the teachers lounge. The teachers mentioned the need for Tissues, baggies, tape recorders, pencils and crayons to list a few. It was brought to our attention by the items that were needed most that we should maybe have a teacher "school store" to provide the supplies that are needed in the classrooms.
Daniela and Maria are co-chairing the Staff Appreciation Luncheon on May 29th, 2008. Teachers and bus drivers will be receiving canvas "Northville" bags. It was discussed getting new electric pencil sharpeners for the teachers as well. Details to follow.
Deanna and Jen Luis volunteered to be hospitality co-chairs or start a committee for next year.
Anne mentioned that the books were ordered for the Read -a-thon
The 2008-2009 back to school packets will be available and ready to assemble at our next meeting.
